Mingara Aquatics Instructor – Jade

By Thitchener Bryce

Qualifications

  • Austswim Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety 2016
  • Royal Life Saving Resuscitation CPR 2016

Experience

I was lucky enough to be recruited into Mingara Aquatic’s first ‘Learn To Swim’ Trainee program in 2016. As a result I have been able to observe, assist and learn from some of the best ‘Learn To Swim’ teachers on the Central Coast. I aim to take the best of these teaching skills, combine them with my AustSwim knowledge and add my own personal touches that I have picked up watching
and assisting my own young children to be water safe and learn to swim.

What do you love about Learn to Swim

I love that I am able to pass my love of the water onto the next generation of swimmers. It is so rewarding watching a young nervous swimmer build trust in me as a teacher which leads to increasing confidence in the water and independent swimming.

A tip for your first lesson.

My first tip would be to start children swimming from an early age, from 6mths upwards, to help build confidence in the water and a love for swimming as early as possible. In addition to this my second tip would be consistency, children who swim weekly all year round develop confidence and achieve independence in the water faster.

Favourite place to swim?

When I am not working in the pool, I can often be found swimming laps in the Mingara Aquatics 50m pool.
