Sunday 22 March 2020

To our wonderful Mingara Aquatic swimming families,
With the current uncertainty surrounding us all, we’d like to thank you for your continuing support of our community facility. We understand the need for physical activity and routine for our children in a safe environment will be beneficial to their overall health and wellbeing. To allow continuity for families, we are currently closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and are making changes to our Learn to Swim Programs under current Government health guidelines for the safety of your family and our team.

The following changes will be effective from Monday 23 March:

Levels 1

To continue to provide a safe water experience and maintain guidelines on social distancing, a parent will continue to be required in the water during the lesson. Our qualified Learn To Swim instructor will deliver the swimming program from a safe distance.
As always please shower before and after using the pool.

Levels 2, 3 & 4

A parent will be required to be in the water during the Learn to Swim lesson to participate with their child, under the instruction of our qualified Learn To Swim instructor. This parent participation allows us to adhere to current health guidelines on social distancing and provide greater water safety.
As always please shower before and after using the pool.

Levels 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9

With greater swim, water safety and survival knowledge and skills in these levels, we’ve created more space and our Instructor will maintain a safe distance to meet current social distancing guidelines.
As always please shower before and after using the pool.

Squad Programs – Transition, Bronze, Silver, Gold, High Performance and Adult

Squad coaches will be actively communicating with squad swimmers and will work on adjusting their programs to support current health and social distancing guidelines.
Please assist by ensuring swimmers bring a clearly name labelled drink bottle to sessions.
As always please shower before and after using the pool.

Pool Deck

Please work with us to facilitate one (1) responsible parent/guardian per family to be on the pool deck during our Aquatic Programs. This enables us to maintain a safe environment in relation to current capacity guidelines during swimming programs.

Casual Visits

Casual visits are permitted during off-peak times. No casual swimming or lap swimming will be permitted from 3.30 pm – 7 pm, Monday to Friday. We recommend contacting the Aquatics Reception team prior to your casual visit to confirm if you can swim.
As always please shower before and after using the pool.

Health & Hygiene Reminder

Prime Minister, Scott Morrison addressed Australia on Friday with updated COVID-19 measures, to further protect Australians.
The key measure which relates to health, fitness and leisure facilities includes:
‘Settings like gyms, indoor fitness centres and swimming pools are not required to close at this time providing they meet these requirements for social distancing and hand hygiene. Such venues should take actions to ensure regular high standards of environmental cleaning take place.’
Our Mingara Aquatics team and swimming families are working together to look after each other.
We all have a part to play in this and we ask:

  • if you have recently returned from overseas travel or been in contact with a person who is being tested, or has tested positive for COVID-19, that you isolate yourself from our facility and the community at large for 14 days.
  • if you are unwell that you rest and visit at another time.
  • for you to use the available hand hygiene products including hand sanitiser and handwashing facilities.
  • that you respect others and maintain social distancing guidelines of 1.5 metres.

Additionally, we’d like to remind you that the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene are being maintained within our facilities.
This includes:

  • Adherence to social distancing guidelines
  • Updated signage: we’ve updated in-centre signage to include the latest information and hygiene practices as advised by the Australian Government
  • Additional cleaning of the facility throughout the day; including frequent sanitisation of equipment, surfaces, bathrooms and other areas.
  • Additional sanitisers and antibacterial products for your use
  • Team briefings, ensuring everyone is up to date with the latest information

Don’t hesitate to ask – we’re here for you
