Our Contribution
At Mingara, we’re passionate about supporting initiatives that make a positive difference in our community. That’s why we’re proud to donate 160 boxes of gloves to WIRES, helping provide essential resources to the dedicated volunteers who rescue, rehabilitate, and care for native wildlife across the Central Coast. While gloves may seem like a simple item, they play a vital role in wildlife rescue.
Volunteers regularly use protective equipment when handling injured, sick, or orphaned animals, ensuring both animal welfare and volunteer safety. Our donation will help support the ongoing efforts of local wildlife carers as they respond to countless calls for assistance throughout the region.
About WIRES
Founded in 1985, WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service) is Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation. With thousands of trained volunteers across New South Wales, WIRES is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and preserving Australia’s unique native wildlife.
From caring for orphaned joeys and injured birds to responding during bushfires, floods, storms, and other emergencies, WIRES volunteers work tirelessly to give native animals a second chance. Their commitment helps protect some of Australia’s most iconic species while educating communities about wildlife conservation and coexistence.
NSW is home to an incredible range of native wildlife, including koalas, possums, flying foxes, bats, seabirds, reptiles, and kangaroos and so many more. As urban development and environmental challenges continue to impact local habitats, organisations like WIRES play an increasingly important role in ensuring injured and displaced animals receive the care they need.
How the Community Can Help
Wildlife rescue isn’t something volunteers can do alone. Every member of the community can play a part in protecting Australia’s native animals.
If you encounter an injured, sick, or orphaned native animal, it’s important to seek expert advice rather than attempting to care for the animal yourself. WIRES operates a dedicated rescue hotline where trained staff and volunteers can provide guidance and coordinate assistance.

Even if you’re unsure whether an animal needs help, it’s always worth making the call. Early intervention can often be the difference between life and death for injured wildlife.
Simple actions such as slowing down when driving near wildlife areas, keeping pets supervised, reporting injured animals, and supporting wildlife conservation organisations can all make a meaningful impact.
A Shared Commitment to Community
At Mingara, we believe strong communities are built through support, care, and connection. Our donation to WIRES reflects our commitment not only to the people of the Central Coast but also to the environment and wildlife that make our region so special.
We’re incredibly grateful to the WIRES volunteers who give their time, energy, and expertise to protecting Australia’s native animals every day. Their dedication inspires us, and we’re honoured to contribute to their important work.
Together, we can help ensure our local wildlife continues to thrive for generations to come.
Thank you, WIRES, for all that you do for our wildlife and our community.
