Turning Food Waste into Positive Change
Supporting a More Sustainable Future!
At Mingara Club, we believe that creating a better future starts with the choices we make today. As we recognise the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, we are proud to share the meaningful steps we are taking to reduce food waste, divert more material from landfill, and contribute positively to our community and environment.
Food waste is one of the most significant challenges facing businesses and communities around the world. That’s why we have made a substantial investment in innovative waste management solutions, ensuring we can play our part in reducing our environmental impact.
As part of our commitment, we have installed three food macerators and implemented green waste collection services across all our partnering venues. These initiatives allow us to divert organic waste away from landfill and recover valuable resources that can be repurposed through more sustainable waste processing methods.
Our efforts are already delivering encouraging results. We are currently achieving a 48% recycling rate, including organics, and we have set an ambitious target of reaching an 80% diversion rate by 2030. This goal reflects our long-term commitment to environmental responsibility and continuous improvement.
Sustainability is about more than just infrastructure. It’s also about empowering people to make a difference. To support this, we have delivered 19 targeted training sessions focused on food waste awareness and management. More than 400 team members have participated, helping to build a culture of accountability and shared responsibility throughout our organisation.
By increasing awareness and providing practical education, our team is better equipped to identify opportunities to reduce waste in everyday operations. Small actions, when combined across an entire organisation, can create a significant impact.
To ensure we remain on track, we conduct monthly reporting that enables us to monitor performance, measure outcomes and identify new opportunities for improvement. This data-driven approach helps us make informed decisions and continue progressing towards our sustainability goals.
While there is still work to do, we are proud of the progress made so far and remain committed to creating a more sustainable future for our members, guests, team members and the wider community.
Together, we’re turning food waste into positive change and building a better future, one step at a time. 🌱
