Brad Woodward on deck
A huge congratulations to Brad Woodward who returned from the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games with a gold in the 4 x 100m medley relay (backstroke leg), and two silvers in the Men’s 100m & 200m backstroke.
Brad caused a stir on the Mingara Aquatics pool deck last week when he returned to his swimming club to share his success with his clubmates. Brad signed autographs and shared his medals with the swimmers. Such a great experience for them all!

Brads journey
Brad Woodward began swim lessons at Mingara at 10 months of age and has been continually swimming in lessons, pre-squad and squad until progressing through to his current swim career.
At about 7 years of age Brad joined Mingara Aquatic Swim Club and has been a member ever since. He was Club Captain of the Mingara Aquatic Club. Swimming and training for Mingara has given Brad the opportunity to swim at National,
State and Country Championships and international meets in the pool swimming and many more!
Brad was about to quit swimming when he was younger, but his mum suggested he have a try at the school swimming carnival. He has not stopped swimming since!
Brad is training hard to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Surf Life Saving
The swimming has given Brad wonderful opportunities in surf lifesaving, being a member of Shelly Beach SLSC nippers since the age of 5. The swimming has given a great grounding and endurance for surf swimming, board paddling and ironman
events. His state surf achievements are; 1 gold, 1 silver individual, 2 silver team, 3 bronze individual and 2 bronze individual. He has also been successful in many Surf lifesaving Pool Challenges.
