A Place to Belong: Mingara’s Vision for Retirement Living on the Central Coast

Mingara has long been known for its commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of people across the Central Coast. For decades, the organisation has supported local groups, created welcoming spaces for connection, and contributed to the wellbeing of the wider community. The Mingara Retirement Living development continues this legacy, reflecting Mingara’s vision to enhance quality of life for generations to come.

At its heart, the development ensures older members of the community can continue living full, connected and supported lives close to the people and places they know. Many Central Coast residents wish to remain in the region as they age, and Mingara Retirement Living will provide a welcoming environment where residents can maintain independence while benefiting from a thoughtfully designed, supportive community.

This need is becoming increasingly urgent. The Central Coast is one of the fastest ageing regions in New South Wales, with around 27% of residents aged 60 and over, and strong growth forecast in the 75+ population. By 2030, the region is expected to face a shortfall of more than 1,200 retirement living units and over 800 high-care aged care beds. This is already impacting families seeking suitable accommodation for ageing loved ones close to home.

The proposed development will help address this gap by delivering approximately 215 retirement living apartments and 39 high-care aged care beds. Importantly, dedicated parking for both residents and their visitors will be accommodated within the retirement precinct, while existing club parking will remain unchanged. The development is designed to support a continuum of care, enabling residents to remain in a familiar environment as their needs evolve.

A key strength of the proposal is its integration with the broader Mingara precinct. Residents will have convenient access to dining, wellness, fitness and aquatics facilities, entertainment, social activities and green spaces. This connection fosters an active, engaged and socially connected lifestyle, ensuring residents remain part of a vibrant and welcoming community.

For club members, the development will complement existing facilities and enhance the overall precinct. Careful planning has ensured that accessibility, amenity, parking and the atmosphere members value will be maintained.

Ultimately, Mingara Retirement Living represents more than new homes – it reflects a continued commitment to community, connection and care. It will provide a place where older residents can live with independence and dignity, while strengthening the social fabric of the Central Coast for years to come.
