May 2017, one week, 700 women, an Expo, conference, Gala dinner and prize winning baking.
The Country Women’s Association NSW 95th Annual General Meeting took place over five days at Mingara Recreation Club in May 2017.
“Mingara were excited by the opportunity to work with the Country Women’s Association NSW to coordinate their NSW Annual Conference and Gala Dinner. The event was a whole site operation encompassing the Mingara Events Centre, Indigo – Eats, Treats & Bar, The Roasted Berry and The Show Room,” Mingara Head of Events, Jess Rokobaro.

The Conference

Running for four and a half days, the Conference held up to 700 attendees each day. The conference utilised The Show Room and the pre-function lounge as an overflow area. The overflow area permitted The Show Room to be closed door for voting purposes, while the interested branch members could still observe proceedings via live video stream to plasma displays.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

  • The Show Room was set for 600 people – theatre style.
  • The pre function lounge was set up for 200 people – theatre style with expo space.

 

The Expo & Exhibits

The CWA NSW launched their inaugural CWA of NSW Expo. The Expo was designed to showcase the work of the CWA including; their lobbying achievements, humanitarian work and their member’s talents in many different portfolios.
The Expo featured

  • Handicraft
  • The Land Cookery Competition
  • Cultural Display
  • Agricultural and Environmental Display to raise awareness of primary products, flora and fauna.

Each of displays required their own locations. The Mingara Tasman Rooms, as well as spaces throughout the site, were utilised to host the Expo. The Expo was open to the public and generated great community interest.
Six breakout rooms were required to host the Expo.

The Gala Dinner

The celebration of their week, on the final night, saw over 400 CWA NSW representatives and their partners attend the Gala Dinner, three courses, alternate serve. The room was themed by the CWA delegates to represent the CWA through the years.

 
 

Catering

Mingara’s existing food and beverage outlets extended their existing offering to suit the event attendees catering for express lunches and lunch on the run. The Mingara Events team transformed other areas of the club into pop-up style catering outlets. The challenge was to successfully cater to the delegates in a timely manner and cater for their food and beverage preferences.
