This weekend 34 of our swimmers participated in the NSW Country Swimming Championships at Olympic Park Homebush. The team atmosphere was amazing with swimmers arriving very early and staying long after they had finished competing just to support their teammates to share in the excitement. The support and encouragement were appreciated by all team members and coaches.

About the team

Mingara was represented by 34 swimmers. This was 6 more athletes than last year. The team ranged in age from 10 yrs. through to 20 yrs. with both our youngest and oldest swimmers coming home with medals. From the team perspective, Mingara scored 1437 pts and finished 5th an improvement on last years 1176 pts and 6th place. The Medal Tally was even more impressive where Mingara finished 3rd up two spots on last year.

Relay results

Congratulations to the Men’s 4 x 100 Freestyle and Medley relay teams! Having placed 2nd in these events at Coast and Valley and Novocastrian, our boys dug deep and reversed the result to win Gold in both of these events. The team for both events was made up by Shaye Booth, Nathan Ward, Lachlan Sandy and James Koch.
The 12&U boys which featured Brock Hepburn, Tom Liddell, Easton Rhule and Hayden McGregor (one of our youngest 10-year-old boys), quietly had the swim of their lives to win a Bronze Medal.

Where to now

Focus now shifts to State Pool Rescue titles and State Short Course in August.
